Public Outreach Committee Message
 

It has been said that Engineering and Architecture are the dying professions or dying breeds. In an effort to promote these professions ASIE has been volunteering for community wide programs such as Math counts, Science Fair, Young Engineers Awards, etc. In addition to these yearly programs, ASIE has now added a Public Outreach Committee (POC) to help reach out to the general public in bringing not only the awareness but create excitement in young minds to get involved in Engineering and Architecture careers.
 

The POC is starting to offer Mentoring Program to the college students enrolled in the engineering and architecture curriculum in Houston metropolitan area. Additional goals listed below from the ASIE Constitution may be added by the POC in future depending on the interest at the time.

1. Sponsor activities to enhance public interest in engineering and technology

2. Assist in practical training and job search

3. Provide a networking organization for engineers and architects of Indian origin in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area and Texas at large

 

Once sufficient progress is made on the Mentoring Program a new goal will be selected by then current POC. The new goal may be added to the Mentoring Program which will be formally announced, promoted and implemented. This cycle will be continued till all goals as listed above are successfully implemented as part of ASIE benefits.

The college students in the Houston Metropolitan area are encouraged to take advantage of these services offered by ASIE POC.
