| ASIE Recognizes Mr. Harish Jajoo, P.E. |
ASIE is delighted to recognize Mr. Harish Jajoo, P.E., as one of the most dedicated, committed and most deserving Engineer in the Houston and surrounding communities.
Harish is a registered civil engineer and urban infrastructure professional who has managed public works for the City of Houston for twenty-nine years. He currently serves as chair of the Infrastructure Planning Division of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce and was recognized with the Chairman's Award for outstanding community service at last year’s FBCC Gala.He was appointed to the Sugar Land Zoning Board of Adjustment in 2005, and subsequently was appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission where he currently serves. A fiscal conservative, he will bring vast experience in municipal management to the council. His experience equips him with a thorough understanding of what it takes to get things done for a municipality - be it infrastructure, intergovernmental agency coordination, city council considerations, stretching capital investment dollars or interacting with citizens to explain complex budgetary and technological issues. He has served with the Sugar Land Exchange Club as a board member and secretary and co-chaired the spaghetti cook off fundraiser in 2010 and 2011. A graduate of FBCC’s Fort Bend Leadership, he has served as the Chairman of the Board of the Indo-American Forum of Fort Bend (IAF) and is an active member of the HESS club, the oldest engineering organization in the greater Houston area. Harish and his wife, Shashi, have two children. Son Rishi currently attends Harvard University and son Sid is working for a local Sugar Land company. The Jajoo family has made Sugar Land their home for the past twenty-five years. We hope you will join ASIE in recognizing one of the outstanding Indo American Engineer, Harish Jajoo. |
| ASIE hosts Mr. Dan Menendez, P.E., City of Houston at HESS Club |
The American Society of Indian Engineers (ASIE) is delighted to present a luncheon talk on May 12th, 2011 (Thursday), featuring Mr. Daniel Menendez, P.E., Deputy Director, Public Works Engineering, City of Houston. The luncheon will be held at the HESS Club, 5430 Westheimer Rd, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Mr.Menendez will give a presentation on “Public Works and Engineering Capital Improvement Program”. We expect about 100-125 attendees for the event that will include dignitaries from City of Houston and other regional governmental agencies, as well as from the Engineering Consultants community.
Speaker Biography:
Daniel grew up in the Houston Area and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Daniel has had extensive leadership and management experience in the military, public, and private sectors. He is active in community service and education in the area, and is honored to serve as a board member for some of these organizations. Daniel was appointed as Deputy Director, Engineering and Construction Division in October of 2008. As the Deputy Director, he is responsible for design and construction activities required to deliver the City of Houston’s Public Works Infrastructure projects that serve Houston’s Citizens as adopted in the five year capital improvement plan (CIP). The Engineering and Construction Division is divided into four branches: Administrative Services, Construction, Engineering and Geo-Environmental Services. |

| ASIE Supports Mathcounts |
ASIE volunteered at the “Math Counts Competition” held at Fluor Corporation, Sugarland, TX on February 5th, 2011. Chad Patel, Soma Ambadapudi, Ashish Bagga,Srinivas Chintalapati, and Bhavana Patel volunteered as graders and Ramesh Cheriviala and Sushovan Guha volunteered as proctors at the competition. Math Counts is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics at every U.S. state and territory. |
| MOHAN ATLURI, P.E. receives ASIE Young Engieer of the Year Award for 2011 |
ASIE participated in the “Engineer’s Week’ events for 2011 along with other professional organizations in Houston. The Events were held February 20-26, 2011. Mohan Atluri, P.E., was recognized as ASIE's “Young Engineer of the Year 2011”. Srinivas Chintalaptai, Suchitra Chiravuri, Ashish Bagga and Mohan Atluri represented ASIE at Young Engineers Award Recognition Dinner held at Intercontinental Houston Hotel on February 23rd, 2011.

ASIE was one of the table sponsors at the Engineer of the Year Award banquet dinner held at Intercontinental Houston Hotel on February 25th 2011. Some ASIE board members and their spouses represented ASIE at the event. D. Wayne Klotz, P.E., D.WRE of Klotz Associates, Inc., was recognized as the “Engineer Of the Year 2011 for Houston Area” at the event. ASIE past President and current member Ms. Tanu Hiremath, P.E. is the ASIE representative on the E-Week Committee. |
